All about Mrs. Jones
Hi! I'm Amy Jones.
This is my 11th year at Tonganoxie Elementary School. I can’t imagine a better opportunity to work with a caring, supportive staff and energetic, creative students. I focus on the basics of singing, dancing, and playing instruments in my classroom. The students are exposed to a wide variety of listening, creating, and performing experiences. I enjoy helping students learn about music through the process of making music. Students have to use critical thinking skills as they apply specific music concepts, ideas, and preferences to the creative process.
I was blessed to grow up in a musical family in the tiny town of Woodbine, Kansas. I attended a musically rich school in Chapman, KS and then began my college education at Bethany College in Lindsborg, KS. I completed my bachelor’s degree in Music Education at the University of Kansas. My first teaching position was middle school band, vocal, and orchestra at Robinson Middle School in Topeka, KS. I was then able to stay home for many years to focus on raising my children. My husband, Shane Jones, and I have four children: Garrett, who is a band and choir director at Rossville, KS, Addison, who is an architect in Springfield, MO, Keeran, who lives in Orlando, FL, and Lia, who lives in Lawrence, KS.
Please feel free to contact me.
My plan time is: 11:00 - 11:50
